Barge capping is the steel flashing that runs along the gable (barge) edge of a roof, capping the join between the barge board and the roof sheeting. It does two jobs: it seals that edge against wind-driven rain, and it gives the roofline a clean, finished look. Barge capping and barge flashing are the same component — "capping" describes the cover that sits over the edge, "flashing" describes the waterproofing it provides.
You'll see this part called barge capping, barge flashing, barge board flashing or bargeboard flashing — they all describe the same thing. Whatever the term on your plans or quote, this is the profile that finishes and weatherproofs the gable edge of a metal roof.
This barge capping is shaped to suit TRIMDEK® roofing profiles, so it sits cleanly over the sheeting with the right cover and break for a weather-tight seal. Capping matched to your roof profile is what keeps the barge line free of the gaps where wind and water get in.
Barge capping is used wherever a roof meets a gable end — on homes, sheds, garages and commercial roofing. On metal roofs it's the standard way to finish and protect the barge line, carrying water away from the edge rather than letting it track behind the sheeting.
