COLOUR SELECTED:

Polycarbonate roof sheet: suits Trimdek (5 Rib).

Our Polycarbonate sheets are produced in the same profiles as our metal roofing sheets. They are quick and easy to install and are the ideal solution where light transmission is appropriate.

Please note Light Bronze & Dark Tint are only available up to a maximum of 6m long.

What is the cover width of this polycarbonate sheet?

Cover width of sheet: 760mm.    Overall 830mm wide.    Side Laps: Overlap 1 rib

What metal roofing sheet profile does this polycarbonate sheet match?

Matching metal roofing sheet: Trimdek or similar.

Sheet Tolerance: Length: + 10mm, – 10mm; Make allowance for thermal expansion or contraction for long-length roofs at sheeting ends

Which fasteners can I use with this polycarbonate sheet?

We recommend the use of self-cutting” screws. These roofing screws incorporate a “cutting head” on the shaft, which cuts an oversized hole in the top sheeting itself, allowing room to expand.

Another great recommended product is the aptly named “Anti Noise Tape”.  This product is rolled out across the top of the battens before the sheets are installed and screwed down. This tape is extremely easy to install - one side is sticky.  Simply roll and push!

What is the Warranty on these sheets?

A Lifetime Warranty covers our Trimdek polycarbonate sheets. Solasafe Polycarbonate Roofing sets the highest standards in the field with a large selection of colours.

What is the minimum roof pitch on these sheets?

3° fall is sufficient. Over 3.6 metres this is 180mm. If there is insufficient fall, leakage may occur. The Overlap - 1 rib.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery takes approximately 4 - 6 working days once the order has been placed, depending on your location.

Polycarbonate Roofing - 5 Rib Sheets - to suit Trimdek and Apclad Profiles

Our Polycarbonate sheets are produced in the same profiles as our metal roofing sheets. They are quick and easy to install and are the ideal solution where light transmission is appropriate. Our Polycarbonate Sheets are able to be cut to your custom length and come with a lifetime warranty. Polycarbonate roof sheeting is available in clear and a range of colours, each with its own degree of light transmission.

Polycarbonate roofing is best to cut with sharp snips.  Small cuts can be made with strong, sharp scissors.  If a power saw is used, it should be fitted with a fine-toothed blade suitable for cutting plastics or aluminium.  Do not use high-speed cut-off wheels or similar, as they cause melting.

Please read the labels on the sheet prior to installation and check each sheet label thoroughly to ensure that the UV-protected surfaces face the correct way.  Sheets incorrectly installed will not withstand weathering, and discolouration will result.  When used vertically, face the protected side of the sheet in the direction of the most intensive sunlight or exposure to weather.

Spanning

End - 900mm

Mid-1000 mm

1 sheet - 760mm

2 sheets - 1620mm

Introduction

Welcome to our comprehensive guide to standard polycarbonate roofing. This article will provide detailed information about standard polycarbonate roofing, its advantages, installation process details, maintenance tips, and more. Whether you're a homeowner or a professional contractor, this guide aims to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need in order to make informed decisions regarding your roofing needs.

What is Standard Polycarbonate Roofing?

Standard polycarbonate roofing is a versatile and durable roofing material commonly used in residential and commercial applications. It is made from a high-quality thermoplastic polymer known as polycarbonate, which offers excellent strength, transparency, and weather resistance. This type of roofing is available in various thicknesses and sizes to suit different project requirements.

Advantages of Standard Polycarbonate Roofing

1. Durability and Weather Resistance

Standard polycarbonate roofing is renowned for its exceptional durability and weather resistance. It can withstand extreme temperatures, UV radiation, hail, and heavy rain without deteriorating or losing its structural integrity. This durability ensures that your roof will last for many years, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements.

2. Excellent Light Transmission

One of the key benefits and features of standard polycarbonate roofing is its ability to transmit natural light. The transparent material allows sunlight to penetrate, creating a bright and well-lit interior space. This natural lighting reduces the need for artificial lighting during the day and provides a pleasant ambience.

3. Lightweight and Easy to Install

Compared to traditional roofing materials, such as concrete or metal, roofing is lightweight and easy to handle. Its lightweight nature simplifies the installation process, making it faster and more cost-effective. Additionally, its flexibility allows for easy customization and shaping to fit various other styles, roof designs, and features.

Installation Process - Roofing sheets

Installing standard polycarbonate roofing requires careful planning and precision. It is recommended to hire a professional contractor to ensure a proper, cost-effective installation. However, if you're an experienced DIY enthusiast, here's a step-by-step guide to help you understand the process:

Gather the necessary tools and materials: Before you begin, gather all the required tools, including a tape measure, drill, screws, and a saw. Additionally, have the appropriate safety equipment, such as gloves and safety goggles.

Prepare the roof surface: Ensure the roof surface is clean, dry, and free from debris. Remove any old roofing material and repair any damaged areas.

Measure and cut the polycarbonate panels: Measure the dimensions of your roof and mark them on the polycarbonate panels. Use a saw to cut the panels to the desired size carefully.

Install the first panel: Begin at one roof corner and align the first polycarbonate panel. Use a drill to secure the panel, ensuring it is level and properly aligned with the roof's edge.

Continue with the remaining panels: Install the subsequent panels, overlapping them slightly to ensure proper water drainage. Secure each panel with screws, maintaining even spacing between them.

Seal the joints: To prevent water leakage, apply a suitable sealing material to the joints between the panels. This will enhance the roof's water resistance and ensure a watertight seal.

Add finishing touches: Install flashing, ridge caps, and any necessary trim to provide a polished appearance and added protection to the roof.

Maintenance Tips for Standard Trimdek Polycarbonate Roofing

Proper maintenance is crucial to prolonging the lifespan and preserving the aesthetic appeal of your standard polycarbonate roofing. Here are some maintenance and cleaning tips to consider:

Regular cleaning: Clean your roof with a soft cloth or sponge, mild soap, and water. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that may damage the surface. Rinse thoroughly with water after cleaning.

Remove debris: Clear any debris, leaves, or branches accumulating on the roof. Debris can obstruct water drainage and lead to potential damage if left unattended.

Inspect for damage: Regularly identify any signs of damage, such as cracks or loose panels. Promptly address any issues to prevent further deterioration.

Trim nearby trees: If you have trees near your roof, ensure branches are trimmed to avoid potential damage from falling branches or excessive shade that may promote moss or algae growth.

Avoid walking on the roof: Minimize foot traffic to prevent accidental damage. If maintenance or repairs require walking on the roof, use appropriate precautions and ensure you distribute your weight evenly.
