More Information - Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets

Manufactured by Ampelite® under their trusted Solasafe® brand, these premium polycarbonate roofing sheets combine strength, clarity, and advanced UV protection. Perfect for patios, pergolas, verandas, and carports, they allow natural light in while protecting you from heat and harmful UV rays. Designed and made in Australia, Ampelite® Solasafe® sheets are built for long-term performance in tough conditions.

About Ampelite® Solasafe®

Ampelite® Solasafe® sheets are made from impact-resistant polycarbonate – up to 250 times stronger than glass – and are UV-protected on both sides for enduring clarity and protection. The dual-layer co-extrusion process ensures long-term resistance to weathering, yellowing, and brittleness caused by Australia’s high UV exposure.

Key Benefits

Applications

Suitable for patios, pergolas, carports, skylights, and greenhouses, these sheets are designed for maximum versatility. The Solasafe® profile is compatible with popular roofing profiles like Corrugated COLORBOND® and Trimdek®.

Colour & Light Options

Choose from a wide range of clear, opal, grey, and bronze tints. Clear sheets provide the highest light transmission, perfect for greenhouses and covered areas that need natural brightness. Tinted sheets reduce glare and heat, making them ideal for patios and entertainment spaces.

Installation Guidelines

Install sheets with the UV-protected side facing the sun. Use Ampelite®-approved fasteners and allow for thermal expansion. Combine with custom flashings and rainwater goods for a watertight, professional result.

Ampelite® Warranty Information

Every Ampelite® Solasafe® polycarbonate roofing sheet is backed by a comprehensive Lifetime Warranty and a 10-Year Hail Damage Warranty.

Ampelite® warranties provide confidence that your polycarbonate roofing sheets will retain their clarity, light transmission and weather resistance for decades of reliable service.

Delivery & Ordering

Orders are typically dispatched within 3–7 business days depending on sheet length and colour. We deliver across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT direct to site, securely packed with edge protection to prevent damage in transit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Solasafe® polycarbonate sheets UV protected?

Yes. Ampelite® Solasafe® polycarbonate sheets are UV-stabilised on both sides, blocking 99.9% of harmful UV rays and maintaining clarity over time.

How long will polycarbonate roofing last?

Solasafe® polycarbonate roofing sheets come with a Lifetime Warranty and are designed to perform for 20–25 years. The warranty covers discolouration and light transmission loss, ensuring long-term durability.

What does the Lifetime Warranty cover?

The Lifetime Warranty covers excessive discolouration of clear sheets (AS/NZS 4257.7) and light transmission loss (AS/NZS 4257.4). Light transmission loss is limited to 0.8% per year for the first 15 years, then no more than 1% per year thereafter.

Is there a hail damage warranty?

Yes. Ampelite® provides a 10-Year Hail Damage Warranty covering fracturing from hailstones up to 25 mm in diameter accompanied by high-wind conditions.

Can I install Solasafe® sheets myself?

Yes. The lightweight design makes Solasafe® polycarbonate sheets suitable for DIY installation on patios, pergolas, and greenhouses. Always install with the UV-protected side facing the sun.

Are clear sheets hotter than tinted options?

Clear polycarbonate allows the most light and warmth, while tinted colours such as opal, grey, and bronze reduce heat and glare — ideal for patios and outdoor entertaining areas.

Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles - Match the Right Sheet to Your Roof

Choosing the right polycarbonate roofing profile depends on what you're building and which steel roofing profile (if any) you're matching. We supply three core polycarbonate profiles - Corrugated, Greca, and 5-Rib Trimdek - in Ampelite® Solasafe® brand sheets, available in clear or tinted finishes.

Corrugated Polycarbonate Roofing

The most popular polycarbonate roofing profile in Australia - Corrugated polycarbonate matches the classic Corrugated steel roof profile, making it ideal for replacing or extending existing Corrugated COLORBOND® or ZINCALUME® roofs with translucent sections. Used for patios, pergolas, carports, and shed skylights where you want natural light through part of a roof line.

Combine with Corrugated COLORBOND® steel sheets for mixed-finish roof designs.

Greca Polycarbonate Roofing

Greca polycarbonate has a trapezoidal profile - wider, deeper ribs than Corrugated - designed for modern architectural applications. Greca is the polycarbonate equivalent of mid-rib steel profiles like Trimdek®, and works well on contemporary patio roofs, modern pergolas, and architectural skylights where the cleaner ribbed look suits the build style.

Compatible with mid-rib steel profiles like Trimdek® COLORBOND®.

5-Rib Trimdek Polycarbonate Roofing

5-Rib Trimdek polycarbonate is the exact-match polycarbonate sheet for Trimdek® COLORBOND® steel roofing. Used when you want translucent panels to integrate seamlessly into an existing Trimdek® roof — common in patios attached to Trimdek-roofed homes, where Corrugated polycarbonate would clash visually with the surrounding profile.

Polycarbonate Roofing Tint Levels — Clear, Frosted, Tinted

Our Ampelite® Solasafe® polycarbonate roofing sheets are available in three tint levels:

  • Level 1 (Clear): Maximum light transmission. Best for greenhouses, skylights, and shaded areas that need brightness. Allows natural light through while still blocking 99.9% of UV.
  • Level 2 (SolaFrost / Frosted): Diffuses direct sunlight while still letting plenty of light through. Reduces hot-spot glare under patios and pergolas — popular for entertaining areas where you want soft, even daylight.
  • Level 3 (Tinted): Reduces both glare and heat transmission. Best for west-facing or full-sun patios where temperature control under the roof matters more than maximum brightness.

Polycarbonate Roofing Accessories — Screws, Tape, Ventilation

Installing polycarbonate roofing properly requires the right accessories - polycarbonate-specific screws, anti-noise tape between sheet and rafters, and (for enclosed spaces) ventilation.
