Zincalume Corrugated Roofing Sheets 48 BMT: Strong, Durable & Custom Cut

ZINCALUME® corrugated roofing sheets in .48 BMT base metal thickness are one of Australia’s most trusted solutions for roofing and wall cladding. Manufactured from premium hi-tensile steel, these sheets are strong, lightweight, and built to withstand tough Australian conditions. All sheets are manufactured in accordance with Australian standards for wind capacity and structural performance, ensuring compliance and reliability for your project.

With an actual sheet width of 850mm and a cover of 762mm (both measured in mm, after 1.5 rib side lap), this economical profile installs easily and aligns quickly — saving you time, labour, and materials. Whether you’re working on residential, industrial, or domestic applications, the versatility of this profile ensures outstanding value for money. These sheets are a popular choice for steel roof applications in both traditional and modern architecture.

Corrugated ZINCALUME® is one of the most durable and long-lasting roofing materials available. It’s virtually maintenance-free, highly resistant to corrosion, and perfect for use in both roofing and walling applications. Its lightweight structure reduces sheet damage during handling and installation, and the material accommodates thermal expansion — so make sure to allow for expansion joints at sheeting ends on long roofs. ZINCALUME® corrugated roofing sheets can enhance both the durability and aesthetics of any building project, making them ideal for those seeking performance and visual appeal.

Suitable for a minimum roof pitch of 5 degrees, these custom-cut roofing sheets are made to your specific length requirements, allowing you to eliminate end laps and lay sheets from eave to ridge in a single run.

Installation is simple, thanks to a pierce-fixed design that uses standard fixing methods to achieve maximum weather protection. Proper installing techniques are essential to ensure optimal performance, water drainage, and long-term durability of your steel roof.

Recommended Fixing Method

For long-lasting results, we recommend using Category 5 screws, which are designed to endure extreme weather exposure. For standard roofing applications, our 12 x 50mm Multifix screws are the perfect choice — suitable for fixing into both timber and metal battens.

For wall cladding installations, use 12 gauge x 25mm screws when fixing into timber or 10 gauge x 16mm screws when fixing into steel. These shorter screws are fixed through the pan (valley) of the corrugation, ensuring a clean finish.

Custom Lengths & Delivery

All roofing sheets are custom cut to your required length, reducing waste and installation time. Delivery typically takes between 4 to 7 working days, depending on your location. Coordinate delivery to match site readiness for efficient installation and seamless workflow.

1. Introduction to Metal Roofing

Metal roofing has rapidly gained popularity across Australia for both residential and industrial applications, thanks to its exceptional durability, versatility, and modern aesthetic. Among the various options available, corrugated roofing stands out as a leading choice for those seeking a strong, lightweight, and economical solution for roofing and wall cladding. Manufactured from high tensile steel, corrugated roofing sheets deliver outstanding value by providing a long-lasting roofing material that is virtually maintenance free. This makes them ideal for a wide range of projects, from family homes to large-scale industrial applications. The combination of strength, low maintenance, and adaptability ensures that metal roofing remains a preferred option for those looking to invest in quality, reliable cladding and roofing solutions.

2. Features and Benefits of Corrugated Roofing

corrugated roofing, such as the renowned CUSTOM ORB® profile, is celebrated for its adaptability to both traditional and contemporary architectural styles. One of its standout features is the generous actual sheet width, which allows for rapid installation and significant savings on both materials and labor. With a minimum roof pitch requirement as low as 5 degrees, corrugated roofing is versatile enough to suit a wide variety of project needs. Each roofing sheet, typically 850mm in width, offers ample coverage and a secure, easily aligned fit. Designed to withstand Australia’s harsh weather conditions, corrugated roofing provides maximum weather protection for both roofing and walling applications. The use of high tensile steel in its manufacture ensures superior durability and performance, making it the perfect choice for anyone seeking reliable, long-lasting materials for their roof or wall cladding.

3. Customization Options for Roofing Sheets

When it comes to roofing sheets, customization is key to achieving the best results for your project. ZINCALUME® roofing sheets can be custom cut to your required length, ensuring a tailored fit that minimizes waste and maximizes coverage. This flexibility is especially valuable for projects with unique dimensions or design requirements. For longer sheet lengths, it’s important to consider thermal expansion—an expansion joint may be necessary to accommodate movement, particularly with darker colored sheets that absorb more heat. The ability to order custom lengths and cuts makes these roofing sheets suitable for a wide range of domestic and industrial applications. Additionally, with the extensive availability of COLORBOND® steel colors, you can select roofing sheets that perfectly complement your building’s design, enhancing both functionality and curb appeal.

4. Technical Specifications of .48 BMT ZINCALUME®

The .48 BMT ZINCALUME® corrugated iron roofing sheets are engineered for superior durability and performance. With a base metal thickness of 0.48mm, these sheets offer robust protection against the elements, making them ideal for both roofing and wall cladding applications. The corrugated profile, such as CUSTOM ORB®, provides a wide coverage width, which simplifies installation and ensures sheets are easily aligned for a professional finish. Manufactured from high tensile steel, these roofing sheets are designed to deliver long-term strength and reliability. For optimal installation, it is recommended to use category 5 screws, particularly in wall cladding applications, to ensure a secure and lasting fix. It’s also essential to account for thermal expansion at the sheeting ends, especially on longer roofs, to maintain the integrity and longevity of your installation.

5. Maximum Weather Protection

Achieving maximum weather protection is essential for any roofing or wall cladding project. Corrugated roofing sheets, like those made from ZINCALUME®, are specifically designed to deliver superior defense against the elements. The corrugated profile, combined with a precise side lap, ensures effective water drainage and prevents leaks, enhancing the overall performance of your roof or walling system. The 1.5 rib overlap in the corrugated design further boosts weather resistance, while a recommended 50mm overhang of the steel sheets into a standard gutter optimizes water flow and protects both the roof and guttering. These thoughtful design features make corrugated roofing sheets a durable, virtually maintenance free solution that offers outstanding value and reliable performance for a wide range of walling and roofing applications.
