Which Colorbond profile should you choose?

.42 vs .48 BMT — what the thickness means

BMT stands for Base Metal Thickness — the thickness of the steel before the protective and paint coatings are added. It's the standard way roofing steel is specified in Australia. Thicker steel is stronger and more rigid, but heavier and dearer.

.42 BMT The residential standard. Right for the large majority of homes, sheds and carports at normal spans and wind ratings.
.48 BMT Heavier duty. Used for higher wind regions, longer unsupported spans, commercial roofs, or where extra rigidity is wanted.

If your roof is a standard residential build, .42 BMT is almost always correct.

Colorbond colours

Every profile is available across the COLORBOND® colour range. Colours are engineered to hold their appearance in Australian sun and weather.
